The Website That Would Not Die

I’ve half-joked a couple of times in the last week or so that I was going to purchase the domain TheWebsiteThatWouldNotDie.com. After all, this would be the third time I’ve re-started American Bibliophile in some form or another. I have always been one of those people who takes on too much, and I confess that since I have a couple of other jobs as well as a family, once this blog started becoming more like work, I abandoned it for a while. It made me feel overwhelmed.
But I got a gentle nudging from people seen and unseen. And in my head. And the realization that I’d only read 21 books this year did not exactly make me feel great. So I’m resolving to do better. Those that know better, do better. Right? Here is my attempt at clearing some of the clutter in my mind by commonplacing my literary life.
Won’t you join me? I can’t promise much except that there’s sure to be some interesting adventures along the way.
But wait. Here’s what I CAN promise you…
This blog has had a bit of a facelift (ok, a major one). And with that, it’s been repurposed a bit as well. I will of course still review what I’m reading, but I’m going to try to be less academic in my writing, and keep this as more of a journal. Plus, I’ll be writing on more than just books. Anything from the humanities is really fair game. And finally, I may bring in some friends to help once in a while to add some perspective.
So kick back. Add me to your feed reader (or subscribe through email). And don’t forget to leave a note occasionally to let me know you’re here.
Welcome back! I hope that you continue to blog, and that it’s enjoyable rather than obligatory!
Thanks so much, Haley! I appreciate everyone’s understanding while I lost my mind!
